Description
The beautiful Heritage Listed Henton Cottage sits in the grounds of the Australind Shopping Centre.
Built in 1841 by William Dacres Williams as the "Prince of Wales Hotel". Its original two rooms came from England as a prefabricated building. The cottage is a rare intact example of a timber and shingle building dating back to the early years of European settlement. It operated as a tavern and wayside inn from 1842/1843 to 1845.
Henton Cottage is now home to Australind Artisan Collective and is your one-stop shop for locally handcrafted gifts and artwork. Keep an eye out for their regular weekend markets held on the lawns surrounding the cottage.
