Description
The Karragarup Play Space at the Ridley Place Foreshore is a nature play space overlooking the Leschenault Estuary. Karragarup in Noongar language is ‘place of the crabs’ and you can’t miss the awesome crab in this playground!
The name recognises the north-eastern area of the estuary was known as an important source of crab for the Wardandi Noongar people.
The play space provides various interactive play opportunities for children of all ages. The centre of the playground features a large crab play structure, with a watermisting feature and lights. A zipline or flying fox is towards the Leschenault Estuary side of the playground. There is also a cubby structure inspired by the Avicennia Marina, or grey mangrove. Kids can also scramble over a balancing rope course.
